Intercultural Communication Action Plan
After all that we have learned from the class this term, I am eager to advance my education in the area of intercultural communications. I have seen just how important all areas of this communication is to achieving success. I plan to start my journey with a medical Spanish class. I would love to know the terms that I use on a daily basis that do not translate to other languages. I also plan to extended my intercultural experiences with international travel. What better way to learn than from the cultures in front of you. My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland next year and we will prepare for our trip by educating ourselves about the cultures we may encounter.

New Echota Historic Site
I thought that I would pass another part of my culture. As I have mentioned in past post, my family is Cherokee Indian and we are very lucky to have the New Echota Historic Site in the town that I grew up in and where my parents still reside. This park is full of information on how the Trail of Tears began in our small town and provides historical items and site for people to view. Local schools use the park as a class room field trip to educate students about our home town.
Here is the link to the site that gives information about the site as well as a brochure with lots of facts.

Southern Roots
I have mentioned before on my blog that I was raised in the south and I am your average farm girl. I ran around with the boys climbing trees and bringing home bugs for my mom to be completely grossed out by. I have a cousin that has in recent years written a book about the history of my family called "Southern Roots". While my family has and remains a big part of my culture, I thought that I would share the link to his website where you can find information on the book and even read and excerpt. The book not only discussed the ways of southern living and what made us who we are today but also information on how our family was connected to the civil war as well. Enjoy the link! : )

Another part of my culture that I carry everyday.
Hello Classmates,
I wanted to share with you another part of my culture. My father's heritage is Cherokee Indian and most of the descendants within his family have an external feature that is the same. We all began to develop gray hair at a very young age. The funny part is that no one is fully gray but has remained with salt and pepper hair that you might have noticed in my blog photos. I began to develop this trait at the age of 12.
Aside from the gray hair reminder that I look at every morning, I have a tattoo that relates to my heritage. The number seven holds great importance to the Cherokee Indians. I am attaching a web link that gives a bit of information on that. I got a tribal tattoo that has seven points within the art work to represent this part of my history. It is hidden from site but serves as a reminder to me to always remember where you came from.

My life a blessing!
This is my Dad feeding a baby calf. I grew up on a farm and learned the ways of farm living. It taught me great life lessons.
This is my niece showing her steer. My brother and I also grew up showing cattle. It taught us lessons of responsibility and developed a great love for animals
That love for the animals has carried on through my life.
This is my little boy Copper, he is now 15 years old and as sweet as ever.
Growing up on the farm, we learned at a young age how to use a weapon.
It's great to know how to defend yourself
And it's fun!
I was blessed to be raised in church and was taught of God's love.
This is the single most improtant thing in my life is my faith.
My family guided me to be grounded in the words of God!
I gain peace, strength, guidance, and love for the words of the Bible.
The second most important thing in my life is my family! This is my wonderful husband Brandon on our wedding day
We love to travel and experience other cultures! This was our last out of country visit and we got hit by hurricane Earl but it was so much fun meeting new people.
We are really BIG Georgia Bulldog football fans. GO DAWGS!!
We love to get together with friends and go to the games.
It's our faviote social activity.
Recently God blessed us with the most wonderful thing anyone could ask for.
We became parents of a sweet little boy named Sawyer.
I just can't put into words what he means to us.
He is just so much fun : )
This is our new house that we move into next week!
We are so excited.
